I am a student from Chung Cheng, attending lessons here. I take Higher Chinese in school. My cousin had recommended this tuition to me. Even though I live relatively far from the tutor’s house, I find that the 1 hour of traveling time is rather worth it. 

Through interactive sessions and educational videos, I learn much more than what is in the textbook. Real life examples and answering techniques are taught, which can be widely used. 

Beforehand, I had not much of an interest in Chinese in general, but after attending lessons here, I feel that the subject had started to grow on me. I read more Chinese books, out of interest now. My results have also improved, from around a C5 to a B3 after tuition.

For this year’s O levels, I think that my confidence level has risen, after encouragement and help from the tutor. I would think that I would be able to do better than in my school.

My name is Kristen. I’m from CHIJ Secondary Higher Chinese．From the 4 lessons in December I have had with Mr Kok, I have learnt how to answer comprehension questions effectively by searching for the answers in the passage and adding on other details like examples. I have also learnt how to answer the questions quickly and creatively. I have learnt how to answer the question completely with all the points. After finding the keywords, I have learnt how to summarise my points instead of copying an entire chunk of information.

I have learnt how to make compositions interesting through writing more detailed descriptions and highlighting the theme.

I have learnt to answer oral questions quickly and proficiently while using the right words. He has also shown some videos on YouTube which can be used for discussion and hence improves my oral.

I am a student from CHIJ Secondary. I take Higher Chinese. I started tuition in 2018, when I was Sec 3. 

For my SA1, I attained a C6. For SA2, I improved and got a C5. 

Not only has taking tuition here helped my results improved, I have learnt a lot of useful knowledge that helps me in 作文. For example, I have been shown many videos about famous figures (like Nick Vujicic), and now know more them. This helps me in 议论文, where I need to include examples as part of my essay.

I am taking O Level Chinese this year. I am more confident that I can do well for Chinese now, than I was at the beginning of the year.

Sec 1 ACS boy's Testimonial

My name is Javen and I come from ACS(Barker Road) Secondary 1.Over the December holidays, I have attended 4 lessons with Mr Kok. These 4 lessons have been interesting and funny, because he tells me stories sometimes and also makes the lesson interesting by showing me YouTube videos.

The YouTube videos will also be used for discussion about the advantages of the subject of the video. Throughout the discussion, he has taught me different answering techniques to tackle the questions which I can use for oral in the future.

He has also asked me to write a small composition about my trip to Hokkaido, Japan and Hong Kong. Mr Kok has used the Quizlet application to help improve my vocabulary and get a headstart for when school starts in a few days. The Quizlet application is very useful and fun to use. I think schools should use this method of teaching to make lessons more interesting for the students as there are examples of using the words given in a sentence and then playing a game where you have to match the English meaning of the words with the sentences.

Overall, I would recommend him to other students and would come back to let him teach me.

I am a student from ACS(BR) and I take express chinese.

I started tuition in 2017 after PSLE to try out a new tuition teacher.

Going for this tuition has helped me grow and improve my interest in chinese and my grades.

During SA1, I scored a C6 and during SA2, I got a B4.

The discussions about the educational videos and topics shown have helped me for my oral. Through these video discussions, I have gained more confidence for oral which has helped a lot. Since there are some words I don't know,  it intrigues me to find out more growing my interest in Chinese.

I have gained more confidence throughout the year and hope to score better next year.
